Our Range of shackle products

Our Range of products.

We have two main styles of shackles for safety chains, the D shackle and the Bow shackle.

What is the difference and the benefits?

  • The D shackle and Bow shackle are very similar in most aspects.
  • The Bow shackle has the advantage of allowing more safety chains, rope or other items to be held on the body of the shackle.
  • One key benefit to the bow shackle is that when load is applied to the shackle, because of its round shaped body a straight line force is naturally created. The D shackle can be compromised with a side load if not installed correctly.
  • Personally we like both styles for a various amounts of applications. The bow shackle can be a little bit easier to hold onto, so if you have poor hand dexterity from an illnesses such as arthritis the bow shackle might be beneficial to you.
  • The long version of the 10mm D shackle can also be useful in those hard to reach situations like connecting the front of a Jet Ski onto a trailer or a launching rope onto the front of your fishing boat.

Sizes

  • In the D shackle: We have the 8mm, 10mm, 12mm and 17mm shackles made from 304 Stainless Steel.
  • The spring is also made from 304 stainless steel.
  • In the Bow shackle: We have the 8mm, 10mm, 13mm and 19mm shackles made from 304 Stainless Steel.
  • The spring is also made from 304 stainless steel.

Material used in construction

Currently we have our main range of shackles available in 304 stainless steel.

We have also had them constructed with galvanized steel that has been heat treated for extra strength and durability.

These have not been mass produced just yet, but we have been using these samples on our boats, in the ocean and on our tandem axle trailers, The spring is still constructed using 304 stainless steel.

The galvanized version is proving to be worthy of mass production so watch this space.

We also sell anti-theft retaining clips

Our customer’s love our half-turn shackles so much, but unfortunately so do their mates that borrow their trailers. Returning the trailer but not the Snap-D shackle.

So to stop that problem we have anti-theft retaining clips available.

These are a 2 piece plastic clip that goes together between the shackle and the safety chain, stopping the shackle from falling off or being removed from the safety chain.

  • They are for sale in a 2 pack and a 6 pack of retaining clips.
  • They have a 15mm internal diameter to fit standard safety chain.
  •  They have a 20mm outside diameter, to stop them being pushed out.

Whether you are a builder, plumber, electrician, fisherman, motorcycle racer, horse rider or farmer we think you’d love our range of products.
